SON OF VIETNAM: NGUYEN DUC QUANG

CAUSE: Refugees & Migrants, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Human Rights

CATEGORY: Film

PROJECT DIRECTOR: Corey Cao Nguyen

SON OF VIETNAM: NGUYEN DUC QUANG is a short documentary film about Nguyen Duc Quang, who was a musician, activist, and “spiritual leader” of the Republic of Vietnam - often called the Gandhi of Vietnam. This story is told by Corey Cao Nguyen, a Vietnamese American cinematographer and filmmaker, and the grandson of Nguyen Duc Quang. Through SON OF VIETNAM, Nguyen uncovers everything his grandfather could not tell us before; the trials, the tribulations, and the struggles of what it must have been like to lead the spirits of millions of Vietnamese people in opposition against a discriminatory, oppressive regime. Corey Cao Nguyen's hope is to track down the dots his grandfather left behind and unravel his complex legacy for a new generation of Vietnamese youth.
